On the occasion, DC said that the first covid-19 vaccine will be administered to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff. He said that the healthcare workers will be the first to get covid 19 vaccine in the initial phase of inoculation since healthcare workers are at a higher risk of contacting the virus and their sickness would mean disruption of the healthcare delivery system. He said that the medical staff would imperil patients by snubbing COVID shots. The idea of vaccinating healthcare providers first is to help pave way for broader vaccine acceptance. They have to play an important role in fostering vaccine acceptance among vaccine hesitants. Vaccine hesitancy among medical personnel is a major concern. It is a troubling development. Unvaccinated staff have the potential to transmit the disease to patients who are vulnerable to COVID related complications.

On the occasion, DC also said that the frontline workers will follow the medical staff in getting themselves vaccinated. He said that 75 vaccination centers established in the district and 1064 health workers will be vaccinated.

The DC also appealed the public of the district to cooperate with the health workers and get themselves vaccinated so that the disease will get completely eliminated as this is the only way to end the pandemic.
