With 1005 new positive cases and 6 deaths, J&K records highest ever spike this year

Jammu and Kashmir Saturday witnessed highest ever spike of positive cases as 1005 people tested positive for the deadly virus while as the UT witnessed six more fresh deaths.

The fresh spurt in positive cases has pushed the number of active cases close to 6,755 which otherwise were less than 600 a few weeks before.

Six more deaths were reported in J&K in the last 24 hours taking the toll of deaths to 2,029 and active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day. 1,005 fresh positive cases reported on Saturday pushed the tally of positive cases to 137,475.

Of the exact number of 137,475 cases, 82,560 are from Kashmir and 54,915 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1005 new cases, 706 belong to Kashmir division while as 299 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 82,560 including 76,629 recoveries and 1,277 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 54,915 including 52,062 recoveries and 752 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 6,755 including 4,654 from Kashmir division and 2,101 from Jammu division.

With 359 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 128,691 which is 93.61 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 492 from Srinagar, 93 from Baramulla, 25 from Budgam, 31 from Pulwama, 14 from Kupwara, 32 from Anantnag, 05 from Bandipora, 03 from Ganderbal, 08 from Kulgam and 03 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 299 from Jammu division include 183 from Jammu, 17 from Udhampur, 02 from Rajouri, 02 from Doda, 20 from Kathua, 11 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 02 from Poonch, 04 from Ramban and 58 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.
