A woman died along with unborn baby at district hospital Baramulla triggering massive protests from the relatives of the deceased who alleged that the pregnant woman died due to medical negligence, an allegation out rightly rejected by the hospital authorities.

Afrooza Begum, 30, wife of Farooq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Keema, Bandipora, who was pregnant, was admitted in district hospital, Baramulla yesterday.

“She developed labour pain and was admitted in the hospital for delivery,” said family members of the woman. She was admitted to the hospital yesterday and today her condition deteriorated suddenly and she breathed her last along with the unborn baby.

The deceased woman’s husband Farooq Ahmed alleged that his wife died due to medical negligence as she was not provided treatment on time. Later, family members of the deceased staged massive protest against the hospital administration and demanded action against the doctors for their alleged negligence.

However, hospital administration denied the allegations and stated that the woman died of cardiac arrest and there was no negligence on part of doctors or paramedical staff.

“The woman died of cardiac arrest,” said Medical Superintendent of DH Baramulla, Dr Syed Masood.
