Youth held with counterfeit currency in Anantnag

Police in Anantnag Sunday said to have arrested a 22-year-old youth on recovery of counterfeit currency from latter’s possession.

A police official told news agency Global News Service (GNS) that a youth was apprehended on noticing of his suspicious movement by a police party led by ASI Ghulam Qadir near Government Degree College Main Chowk Khanabal.

On frisking the party recovered fifty-five (55) fake Indian currency notes of two-hundred denominations each (total 11000) from his possession, the official said.

Identifying the arrested youth as one Aqaar Ahmad Dar (22), a resident of Botangoo, the official further said that a case FIR number 120/2021 under section 489 A/B/C IPC has been registered.

The police official in the meantime said that investigations have been set in pace to locate the source of the FICN – Fake Indian Currency Note(s) – in the Valley. (GNS)
